Beer was banned in iceland until 1989, so making a 'Classic' icelandic beer was a bit tricky. I decided to use a style that had references both to the early 20th century, as well as the eighties: art deco, with a slight modern touch. The beer is medium dark bronze colour so the cans are bronze as well with a matte surface. The project was to imagine what I thought the word meant and work from there in designing a typeface. My result was a typeface inspired by fractals, which make up the building blocks of the entire typeface, snowflakes, paper, scale and the illogical. The idea for this identity was to represent the many different types of people from all over the world that come to KEX Hostel with typography and early 20th century visuals.
